Palowski - A Gathering

from Voices from the Writers Place by The Writers Place

about

A Gathering was spirited to form by a passion to represent rarely told tales. For centuries, there have been stories, poems and prose written about women waiting for the return of their sailors. Additionally, there are tales of tavern keepers tied to the romance of sailors and the sea. While conducting research for my novel, I encountered emotional and intriguing tales about 17th/18th century seafaring communities. In the spirit of elevating the art of the untold narrative, this poem pays homage to same sex lovers who waited, wondered, worked and worried in silence. It is an account of love continued beyond the fate of seas. M. Palowski Moore has released five volumes of poetry, including the Lambda Literary Award nominated BURNING BLUE. Among his accolades, he is the recipient of a Phi Beta Kappa arts award and Sammy Davis,Jr./Zora Neale Hurston Award for Arts and Humanities. Two new collections of poems, SHADOWS OF THE LONG ROAD and LORCA’S LIGHTHOUSE, will be available in 2022.
